Our Foals of 2008

Mossy Oaks Farm Miniature DonkeysFuture Brood Jennets

All our babies are handled from the moment they are born (we haven't missed a birth yet) and many times daily thereafter. We pick them up and carry them around, tap their hooves, put our fingers in their mouths and ears and rub them all over their bodies. Our foals learn to trust people completely as they associate us with comfort and security. It always does my heart good when the babies come running up for loves every time I walk into their pasture.

      Grand Dam: Chapman Herd Jennet

Here is our "last but not least" foal of 2008. Classi presented us with this little black beauty and we couldn't be happier. Jazzy is a very stocky little girl and full of piss and vinegar. She is already best friends with the dogs and cats and loves to chase the turkeys at just 2 days old. She possesses her Dam's beautiful face and color and her Sire's outstanding conformation and pedigree. We will add more pictures as soon as the dust settles so we can capture her beautiful black color.

Red Brown Jennet
DOB:

Birth Height: 21½"

Sire: Satroma Ranch Tomahawk, 31½" Dark Red
Grand Sire: My World Red Hawk, 31½" Dark Red
Grand Dam: Ozark's Indain Summer, 31½"Rose-Dun

Dam: U-My Country Coalette, 31¾" Brown
Grand Sire: PMF Bandito in Black, 32
½" Dk Brn
Grand Dam: Donkey Delights Country Duchess,
31¼” Lt Brn

What a surprise we discovered this morning when going out to feed. Coalette was not hand bred to any jacks last year because it was supposed to be her year off! I did have a few escape artists in September but didn't realize that Coalette had been bred during one of those escapades. I keep very accurate records and only know of Tomahawk escaping September 24th. So DNA testing will be done on this little beauty as soon as she is 30 days old. Whoever the Sire is he should be one proud Daddy to have this little beauty as one of his offspring!! To further confuse the issue, Moon had stolen the baby and did not want to give her back. Despite the chaos she is a very affectionate lap donkey. Leans into you and nuzzles constantly. She should be an easy donkey to train. And a real showgirl with perfect legs and bite and a nice wide chest!

Dam: My World Bunny,32" Dark Red
Grand Sire: Ass-Pirin Acres Adniamo, 32½" Dark Red
Grand Dam: Pine Grove Farm Trifle, 33½" Dark Red

Roanie is a very "heads up" jack foal with the most gorgeous big eyes! He has a nice chest and straight legs, perfect bite and good bone. Chasing the wild turkeys and the cats is one of his favorite sports. But then he always runs right back to get hugs and rubs. Roanie is an exceptional little boy and will make a nice herd sire or a wonderfully sweet and handsome gelding. Don't pass this little guy up as he gets stockier and more lovable every day! All of my babies get along great with dogs too as my two labs hang out with me in the barn every day and think it is their job to babysit and play with the foals.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This little boy is everything we could have hoped for and more! We expected a great foal out of this pairing but this little guy is almost too good to be true! He looks like a miniature Tomahawk and has great bone, nice chest, gorgeous straight legs and a nice square, stocky frame like both of his parents. He has great presence for such a little guy and a dynamite personality. He comes running and tries to jump in my lap every time he sees me. I don't think he will mature over 29 inches. "Priceless"

Mossy Oaks Answered PrayersMossy Oaks Answered Prayers

I was away babysitting my grandson while his little brother was being born. I was afraid to leave home because I knew Maddie might foal any day. She lost her last year's baby at 9 months gestation during a terrible storm. My mom and my friend, Debbie, were farmsitting while I was gone and called to say they had good news! And here is the little beauty I came home to. I prayed that if Maddie had her baby while I was gone that she would have an easy foaling and her baby would be okay and she would be a good first time mom. Well my prayers were answered. Hence the name. Annie is a beautiful little jennet with the most gorgeous eyes! She has nice straight legs and the sweetest personality.

Mossy Oak's Pavarotti

Pavi may not be tiny but he definitely has all the qualities necessary for a knockout "show" boy! He has a wide chest, straightest set of legs ever and a gorgeous head. Very handsome and all around perfect! But then what else would we expect from a Grand Champion Mom? So why did we name him Pavarotti? 10 minutes after he was born he made his first attempt to "sing!" And he practices everyday. He will be too tall for a herdsire but will make a knockout cart donkey! Or a wonderful, lovable pet!!

Sold!
Congratulations to

Dam: Windcrest Little Josie,29½" Very Dk Brn
Grand Sire: DM Primo, 32¾" Dk Brown/White Spot
Grand Dam: Gladybrooke Liberty, 30" Gray-Dun

Another surprise! Silvie is the tiniest little thing and a most unusual color!! She is not a gray dun at all. She is a very pale silver with a white throatlatch and lots of white on her legs. Black cross and stripe and several garters down her back legs. Darker face but with light muzzle. Very unique and the sweetest little girl! Good bone structure yet so petite and fragile that she already injured her front knee. So she and momma are stalled until she gains her strength.

This little boy is making a big hit around our farm! He literally hit the ground running. He was trying to run before his mother could get his head out! He was up walking around within 3 minutes of his birth and nursing before 15 minutes. He runs giant laps around our front yard and Velvet got her girlish figure back within 2 days of his birth. She burns alot of calories chasing him. He is gorgeous and correct in every way! Turbo runs right up to every one and has a real "Here I Am!" attitude. It will take a lot of bribing to give this little boy up!
